Justice the Pit Bull is a unique dog with a difficult past. Despite his unusual appearance, he is still adorable in his own way. Unfortunately, Justice was mistreated and abandoned by his previous owners, but he was able to find refuge at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter where he finally received the love and respect every dog deserves. Justice has defied the odds and is now living life to the fullest. However, he wants justice for what was done to him and hopes that his abusers will face consequences for their actions. His story began in 2018 when he was found on the streets of Indiana. At two years old, he had already suffered severe chemical burns that appeared to have been inflicted intentionally. Despite this, he was able to survive on his own for a short period of time, which was truly miraculous.
The Justice was immediately given proper medical care by the group who found him. At first, he needed bandages to treat his wounds. But as time passed, his skin started to heal and his fur began to grow again slowly. Despite looking different from before, the shelter staff adored him for who he is and so did everyone else.
According to veterinarian Jessica Lynch, Justice was very sad initially, but he has transformed into a happy and energetic little guy with a lot of character.
After receiving medical attention and training for about a year, Justice was ready to be adopted. People from other states and countries had already lined up to adopt him, but the shelter could only accept applications from people living within 100 miles due to the vets’ desire to be nearby in case Justice needed further treatment.
Justice had a new life waiting for him.
As expected, Justice was able to find a loving home in no time and has adjusted well to his new surroundings. His adoptive parents frequently update the shelter’s social media page with his progress and he has even gained a significant following. Despite the hardships he endured, Justice is now living his best life with his new family.
Teaching Justice was a challenge due to his troubled past. He often showed stubbornness and disagreed with being told what to do. As a result, he worked hard with Lexi, an excellent dog trainer, for over a year. During this time, he developed feelings for her, which resulted in him being more cooperative. According to Lexi, Justice only has one more training session left.
Justice is becoming increasingly comfortable in his new home. He is much more affectionate than before, and enjoys belly rubs from his loving owners. Though rolling over may seem insignificant, most dogs interpret it as a sign of vulnerability. By allowing someone to rub his belly, Justice demonstrates his genuine trust in humans and feels confident that he won’t be hurt again.
Justice deserves justice.
Right from the beginning, the shelter put in a lot of effort to track down those responsible for mistreating Justice. They offered a reward of $5,000 initially but have since raised it to a total of $20,000 to encourage people to come forward with information leading to the conviction of the perpetrators.
Regrettably, there are still ongoing investigations, but the shelter has received several helpful anonymous tips. One of these tips led them to a previous owner of Justice, who used to go by the name “Roscoe.” It’s uncertain whether the individual who came forward is telling the truth or not when they claimed to have given Justice away before the incident occurred. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough evidence to prosecute anyone for this atrocious act in either scenario. If you possess any information about Justice’s situation, please don’t hesitate to contact the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter. It’s critical that the perpetrator responsible for hurting him is held accountable as soon as possible.
